Bring the full picture: your current care, medicine list, pregnancy plans and the questions you want a weight-management consultation to answer.
Set a clear purpose for the appointment
Choose the main question you want to work through. You might want to understand treatment options, review a previous experience or talk about the practical commitment of ongoing care. Write that question at the top of your notes.
Keep a second list of questions for the clinician who manages your PCOS. Bring both lists, so you can discuss who will address each part and what information needs to be shared.
| Your appointment notes | What to bring |
|---|---|
| My priority | The change I most want help with. |
| My current care | The clinicians I see and the plans we have agreed. |
| My medicines | Names, strengths and supplements. |
| My experience | Treatments tried and the concerns I want reviewed. |
Ask how medicine suitability is assessed
For adult weight management, Wegovy is used alongside diet and physical activity in people with a BMI of 30 or higher, or a BMI from 27 to below 30 with weight-related health problems.
Our clinical team considers your health history and circumstances when assessing treatment. A prescription is a clinical decision.
Ask how your own history fits into the discussion. Bring any recent results you already have and a note of what your usual clinician has advised. Ask which information the team needs before a decision can be made.
Our Wegovy and Mounjaro comparison can help you prepare practical questions about the two medicines we discuss.
Put pregnancy and contraception on the agenda
Wegovy and Mounjaro should not be used during pregnancy. Tell the prescriber if you are pregnant or planning a pregnancy. Wegovy should be stopped at least two months before a planned pregnancy.
Mounjaro can affect oral hormonal contraception. The precaution is to switch to a non-oral method or add a barrier method for four weeks after starting and after each dose increase.
Read our contraceptive-pill guide and write down which clinician will help coordinate that plan. Include your intended timing if pregnancy is part of your plans.
Agree who will do what next
We recommend keeping your GP involved. With your written consent, information can be shared with your GP to support your care.
- Confirm which questions will be handled in the weight-management review.
- Ask who will follow up any information or results needed.
- Agree which clinician you will contact about medicine questions.
- Record your next appointment and what to bring.
- Ask how dietitian support could fit the food-routine questions you have.
Before you finish, read back the next steps in your own words. Keep a copy with your other care notes so the next conversation starts with the same information.
